Hello friends of Multimedia,
MEDIA’92 is coming to town February 26-28 to be held at the Los Angeles
Convention Center! This is shaping up to be THE definitive Multimedia show for
the country. The show is being put on by the producers of MacWorld, Mitch Hall
Associates and is slated to be an international conference, with advertising in
all the major magazines and newspapers reaching the target markets.
Here is the show background:
MEDIA’92 goes beyond the razzle-dazzle of promotional promises to investigate
and demonstrate the solid, tangible benefits of existing multimedia technology
-- while providing ample opportunity for creative thinkers to soar with
multimedia’s fabulous potential.
MEDIA’92 offers two distinctly different conference programs to meet the needs
of two considerably different audiences : the serious media professionals
interested in high-end multimedia tools and techniques; and those whose
interests lie in smaller-scale multimedia applications. The purpose of each
conference is to provide the attendee with a single unbiased source of
information on all available multi-vendor multimedia hardware, software,
services, and projects.
MEDIA’92 will not be limited to any one single platform; attendees will learn
about current and planned multimedia offerings from IBM, Microsoft, Tandy,
Commodore, Sony, Apple and more -- along with techniques and products to help
bridge the gap for those working with more than one vendor’s products.
The Conference Faculty for MEDIA’92 will include speakers who are the best and
the brightest thinkers in the industry, along with users who are straining at
the leash to share their discoveries with their peers. And both Conference
Programs will focus on providing solid, realistic answers to attendees’ most
burning questions.
The Conference Tracks
---> Multimedia on a Shoestring<---
Track 1: Demystifying the Technologies
In each of these 50-minute sessions, you can gain a comfortable understanding
of the role a particular technology pays in multimedia presentations, including
its benefits and limitations, the costs involved (whether used for playback or
to create new presentations), and what new developments are on the horizon.
Track 2: Which Computer To Use?
You want to create your own multimedia presentation, but you haven’t the
foggiest idea which computer might best met your needs, much less you budget.
What to do? Focus on this track, where you can get a complete beginner’s guide
to each of the leading multimedia computer platforms. You can learn everything
you’ll need to decide which is best for your own low-budget productions,
including the special strengths -- and weaknesses -- of each environment,
pricing, suitability for different tasks, which software and peripherals work
best, and where to go for more information.
Track 3: Creating Your Own Multimedia Presentation
Lights ...camera ...action! You’re ready to don the director’s cap -- but
before you do, attending these sessions will give you a solid grounding on both
the technical and creative considerations necessary to produce a quality
multimedia presentation.
Benefits of Attendance
Multimedia Magic on a Shoestring will feature two full days of sessions
designed to:
• fortify you with a solid overview of the latest multimedia technologies
(CD-ROM, artificial intelligence, hypermedia, DVI, CD-I, and more) and how they
are likely to impact you;
• show continuous demonstrations of some of the most exciting and effective
multimedia presentations being used successfully in situations worldwide --
classrooms, museums, sales and marketing departments, laboratories, corporate
boardrooms, training facilities, theatres, and in special events.
• teach you how you can get started creating small-scale multimedia
presentations of your own;
• show you both classic and the newest applications of multimedia as a
productivity tool for every desktop:
• offer insider’s tips on low cost multimedia tools available from all the
vendors in the marketplace;
• provide a forum for users to discuss the effectiveness of multimedia
presentations in situations comparable to your own.
---> Maximum Power for Maximum Payback<---
Track 1: The Plenary Sessions
Multimedia topics of utmost importance to all media professionals will be
covered in such featured sessions as Emerging Multimedia Trends: The Powers,
The Players, The Potential: The Multimedia Standards Survival Guide; Future
Technologies in Multimedia; and more
Track 2: Multimedia Case Studies
No vendors, no sales pitches, no promotional promises, each 50 minute session
in this track is exclusively dedicated to the real-world experiences of
high-end multimedia users fresh from the trenches, who will pull no punches as
they report on specific products used -- including why particular products were
chosen, which worked together well, which were nothing but headaches, and what
was accomplished. Users will also share their insights and tips on how they
deal with such day-after-day multimedia issues as quick prototyping, tracking
production management, authoring environments, tradeoffs and their
consequences, and more.
Track 3: Targeting Your Audience
There’s no point in laboring 25-hour days to get your multimedia production to
the peak of technological perfection if you haven’t first pinpointed the
special needs, strengths/weaknesses, and preferences of your ultimate audience.
This conference track will concentrate on the special considerations necessary
to deliver the most powerful message possible to your target audience.
Track 4: The Uniqueness of Each Platform
An intensely-focused, highly-concentrated assessment of the special benefits
AND limitations/difficulties involved in working with each of the most popular
multimedia platforms. No time for anything but the unvarnished user-tested
truth in each of these 50-minute reality checks; you will get a quick and
reliable synopsis of how well the computer actually performs in a high-end
multimedia production environment.
Track 5: Intensive Workshops
Seminars designed to help you use multimedia technology to its fullest,
covering topics most requested by media professionals.
Benefits of Attendance
Multimedia: Maximum Power for Maximum Payback will provide media professionals
with:
• The latest high-end and low-end multimedia product information -- what’s
available from which vendor; what’s hot, what’s not; and what’s on the horizon
• Innovative techniques and insiders’s tips on the use of specific multimedia
products to create a desired effect.
• Numerous opportunities to network with other media professionals worldwide
to compare notes on what products and techniques are most effective, as well as
which vendors are the best ones to deal with.
• An informed perspective on emerging trends and politics in the
rapidly-changing face of the multimedia industry, and what impact this is
likely to have on the media professional.
• Dazzling case studies by media professionals who have successfully
